2026 Concrete and Paving Program

The City of Yorkton will begin seasonal concrete and paving work in May as part of the annual maintenance program for roads, sidewalks, curbs and gutters.

This work helps improve safety, extend the life of City infrastructure, and reduce the need for more costly repairs in the future.

Project timelines

Concrete Replacement Program
Expected timing: May to June 2026

Asphalt Paving Program
Expected timing: May to August 2026

Timelines are weather-dependent and may shift based on contractor scheduling, site conditions and other construction activity.

What work is being done?

Concrete work

The 2026 Concrete Replacement Program will focus on repairing and replacing sections of sidewalk, curb and gutter. Priority areas include locations with sidewalk uplifts or trip hazards, as well as areas that align with current and future paving work.

Paving work

The 2026 Asphalt Paving Program will include milling and resurfacing selected road segments throughout the City. During a mill and overlay, the top layer of worn asphalt is removed and replaced with new asphalt to improve the road surface and extend the life of the street.

How locations are chosen

Concrete and paving locations are selected using a combination of condition assessments, infrastructure needs and coordination with other planned work.

For roads, the City uses pavement condition data to help identify streets most in need of repair. For sidewalks, the City considers sidewalk condition, trip hazards and opportunities to coordinate with road, water and sewer work where possible.

The 2026 paving program is planned to include approximately 16 street segments, with work focused on areas identified through the City’s pavement condition review. The concrete program is also being coordinated with paving plans to make the best use of available funding and reduce repeat disruptions where possible.

What residents can expect

Residents may notice:

  • Temporary road closures, lane restrictions or detours
  • Sidewalk closures or pedestrian route changes
  • Construction noise, dust and equipment in the area
  • Temporary parking restrictions near work zones

Local access will be maintained where possible. Please follow posted signs, watch for workers and equipment, and allow extra time when travelling through construction areas.

Stay updated

Project updates, traffic impacts and work area information will be posted on this page as details are confirmed.

Thank you for your patience as this work is completed. Seasonal construction can be inconvenient, but it plays an important role in keeping Yorkton’s roads, sidewalks and neighbourhood infrastructure safe and reliable.
