Outdoor Rinks

Our Outdoor Rinks season is done! Check back in the late fall to follow along with our ice making progress.

  Rules and Safety

  • City of Yorkton outdoor rinks are not supervised.
  • Users understand and acknowledge that there may be risks in using the outdoor rinks.
  • Use of protective equipment is strongly recommended.
  • Outdoor rinks are closed and not safe to use when nets are not present.
  • Lights are on from dusk until 10:30 p.m. nightly.

  • March 12, 2024 - All Outdoor Rinks Closed

    Ice conditions have been impacted by the warmer temperatures.
    Rinks will remain closed. See you next season!


  • March 1, 2024 - ODR Update

    March 1, 2024 - Heritage Heights and Knights of Columbus Outdoor Rink

    Heritage Heights and Knights of Columbus ODR are safe for skating.

    • We're grateful for the snow we received this week! However, it brought new priorities for snow removal at our facilities, pathways and tending to Cemetery operations.
    • Despite the cold days, the sun has been shining, bringing warmth to our ODRs built on asphalt. Due to other operational priorities, rebuilding some ODRs has been delayed.
    • Heritage Heights and Knights of Columbus still receive regular daily floods and have established a great surface for all skating.
    • All other rinks remain in unusable condition and are closed.
    • Refrain from using the rinks when they are posted as closed

  • February 16, 2024 - ODR Update

    February 16, 2024 - Heritage Heights and Knights of Columbus Outdoor Rink

    Heritage Heights and Knights of Columbus ODR are safe for skating.

    • Both rinks received multiple floods and are safe for skating.
    • Nets have been placed and timers are set.
    • All other rinks remain in unusable condition and are closed.
    • Refrain from using the rinks when they are posted as closed.

  • February 12, 2024 - Heritage Heights and Knights of Columbus ODRs

    February 12, 2024 - Heritage Heights and Knights of Columbus Outdoor Rink

    • Staff are working to revive the ice at Heritage Heights and Knights of Columbus parks.
    • Today both rinks were scraped and prepped for a flood.
    • Flooding will be completed Wednesday, with the anticipated colder temperatures.
    • All other rinks remain in unusable condition and are closed.
    • Refrain from using the rinks when they are posted closed.

  • February 5, 2024 - All Outdoor Rinks Closed

    Ice conditions have been impacted by the warmer temperatures and rainfall.
    Conditions will be reevaluated when colder temperatures return.
    Refrain from using the rinks when they are posted closed.

  • February 2, 2024 - Silver Heights ODR

    February 2, 2024 - Silver Heights Outdoor Rink

    Silver Heights ODR is CLOSED

    • Ice conditions are very poor and asphalt is exposed at Silver Heights.
    • The Silver Heights rink will be closed for the weekend and will be re-evaluated on Monday.
    • All other rinks remain in usable condition however, still use caution if going for a skate.

  • January 31, 2024 - ODR Update

    January 31, 2024 - All Outdoor Rinks

    Please use caution when skating on the ODRs, the warmer temps are starting to take it's toll on the ice quality.

    • Scraping of the ice is being completed daily in the early morning before daytime temperatures rise.
    • Following the scraping hose floods are completed to help build the ice quality back up as temperatures allow.
    • Regular inspections are being completed to monitor the ice quality as the temperatures continue to remain warm.

  • January 9, 2024 - ODR Update

    January 9, 2024 - All Outdoor Rinks

    Heritage Heights Park, Knights of Columbus and UPP are all open!

    Silver Heights is ready for skating. Nets will be placed tomorrow.

    Weinmaster is still being established and not ready for skating!

    • Regular hose floods were completed at Heritage Heights, Knights of Columbus and UPP.
    • Silver Heights is ready for skating. More hose floods will be completed and nets will be placed tomorrow.
    • Weinmaster received hose floods today but is not fully established. Flooding will continue tomorrow.



  • January 5, 2024 - ODR Update

    January 5, 2024 - All Outdoor Rinks

    Heritage Heights Park is ready for skating with nets and lights!

    Knights of Columbus Park is ready for skating with nets and lights!

    UPP is ready for skating with nets and lights!

    Silver Heights and Weinmaster are still being established and not ready for skating!

    • Two regular hose floods were completed at Heritage Heights and Knights of Columbus.
    • Four floods were completed at UPP.
    • Lights are on and nets are placed at UPP, Heritage Heights and Knights of Columbus. Shovels are available.
    • Weinmaster is prepped and will be flooded next week.
    • Silver Heights was flooded but with the falling snow has resulted in bumpy ice not suitable for skating.
    • Silver Heights will be scraped and flooded Monday with anticipation to open that evening for skating.


  • January 4, 2024 - ODR Update

    January 4, 2024 - All Outdoor Rinks

    Heritage Heights Park is ready for skating!

    Knights of Columbus Park is ready for skating!

    Other outdoor rinks are still being established. Please stay off if posted "closed".

    • Regular hose flood was completed at Heritage Heights.
    • Scraping was completed today at Knights of Columbus.
    • Lights are on at Knights of Columbus and Heritage Heights and both ODRs are ready for skating.
    • Nets will be placed at Heritage Heights and Knights of Columbus for the upcoming weekend.
    • Preparation continued at Ukrainian Pioneer Park (UPP) with two spray applications.
    • Scraping and hose floods with commence tomorrow at UPP.
    • Silver Heights and Weinmaster were both prepared today.
    • Silver Heights had three spray applications completed today.
