January 7 Update - Skating Pathway

Work is underway at the Patrick Park to build up the base ice for the skating pathway. City crews have cleared the area where the pathway will go through the park, and base layer floods are starting to be laid down. As the park area is not flat, the base flooding requires several floods before the final top layers which are suitable for skating can be put down.

As the Parks staff are now regularly clearing and flooding the outdoor rinks, and maintaining walking trails and pathways across the City, a contractor is being used to help speed the skating pathway process up. This has reduced the timeline to build the ice up by almost three full days! Once the base layers are established our crews will come back to start putting down the smooth top layers.
