Why this work is needed
Water and sewer mains are critical infrastructure that support everyday life in Yorkton.
The infrastructure in this project area was identified as a priority based on the condition of the underground pipes, previous water main breaks and inspection findings. Replacing this infrastructure now helps reduce the risk of future breaks, service disruptions and more costly emergency repairs.
What residents can expect
Residents and drivers in the area may notice:
- Temporary road closures
- Detours and local-access-only areas
- Construction equipment and crews
- Noise, dust and vibration
- Temporary parking restrictions
- Short-term service interruptions, where required
Affected residents will receive direct notice from the contractor before work begins in their area. The contractor will also coordinate with residents and collection providers for garbage, recycling and organics collection during construction.
Traffic and access
Traffic accommodation plans will be in place throughout the project.
Local access will be maintained where possible, but some short-term access disruptions may be required as work progresses. Please follow posted signs, use detour routes and watch for workers and equipment in the area.
