Rules and Safety
- City of Yorkton outdoor rinks are not supervised.
- Users understand and acknowledge that there may be risks in using the outdoor rinks.
- Use of protective equipment is strongly recommended.
- Outdoor rinks are closed and not safe to use when nets are not present.
- Lights are on from dusk until 10:30 p.m. nightly.

December 12, 2024 - Update
December 12, 2024 - All Outdoor Rinks
All outdoor rinks are ready for skating with nets and lights!
- Standard hose flooding will continue to maintain the ice quality.
- Work will now begin to develop the Patrick Park Skating Pathway.

December 6, 2024 - Update
December 6, 2024 - All Outdoor Rinks
Outdoor rinks are ready for use when nets are placed and lights are turned on.
- Hose flooding is complete at all rinks.
- However, with the warm temperatures forecasted this weekend, the nets will not be out until next week when it cools down.
- This helps protect the ice base from damage and ensures the rinks stay in great shape.

December 3, 2024 - Update
December 3, 2024 - All Outdoor Rinks and Patrick Park Pathway
Outdoor rinks are still being established. Please stay off until nets are placed and lights are turned on.
Work progressed this week as we work to establish ice at all outdoor rinks:
- Hose flooding continued to build the ice at all outdoor rinks locations
- Outdoor rinks are located at the following parks: Heritage Heights, Knights of Columbus, Silver Heights, Weinmaster and Ukrainian Pioneer
Prep work has started on the Patrick Park Skating Pathway.
- Snow has been cleared to establish the pathway.
- Flooding will begin after temperatures drop and freezing can happen.

November 29, 2024 - Update
November 29, 2024 - Knights of Columbus and Heritage Heights
Outdoor rinks are still being established. Please stay off until nets are placed and lights are turned on.
Work progressed this week as we work to establish ice at both rinks:
- Rink boards were packed with snow to help prevent water from running out of the rink into the park.
- Inside the rink, some of the snow was removed to prepare an even base for spraying.
- Hose floods were them completed.
- Hose flooding will continue to build the ice.

November 25, 2024 - ODR Update
With colder temperatures and snow here to stay, work will begin soon on our Outdoor Rinks. Stay tuned and be sure to subscribe to this page to stay informed.
Here are the steps to building our rinks:
- Rink boards will be packed with snow to help prevent water from running out of the rink into the park.
- Inside the rink, the snow will be back bladed to smooth out any uneven areas to prepare the base for spraying.
- Three spray applications will be complete when the base has been developed.
- Weather permitting, work will continue to build the first ice layer to ready it for hose floods soon, moving from rink to rink across the city.
