Rules and Safety

  • City of Yorkton outdoor rinks are not supervised.
  • Users understand and acknowledge that there may be risks in using the outdoor rinks.
  • Use of protective equipment is strongly recommended.
  • Motion activated lights are on from dusk until 10:30 p.m. nightly.

  • March 20, 2025 - K of C ODR Closure

    Due to exposed asphalt creating unsafe skating conditions, the following outdoor rinks are now closed for the season:

    Weinmaster Park
    Heritage Heights Park
    Ukrainian Pioneer Park
    Knights of Columbus Park

    Lights will be turned off, and "Rink Closed" signs will be posted at entrances.

  • March 6, 2025 - ODRs Update

    We’re continuing to flood the rinks at Knights of Columbus and Silver Heights, and the ice is still looking great!

  • March 3, 2025 - UPP ODR and Crokicurl Closure

    Due to exposed asphalt creating unsafe skating conditions, the following outdoor rinks are now closed for the season:

    Weinmaster Park
    Heritage Heights Park
    Ukrainian Pioneer Park

    Lights will be turned off, and "Rink Closed" signs will be posted at entrances.

    Additionally, the Crokicurl will be closed.

  • February 27, 2025 - Rink & Skating Pathway Closure

    Due to exposed asphalt creating unsafe skating conditions, the following outdoor rinks are closed for the season:

    Weinmaster Park
    Heritage Heights Park

    Lights will be turned off, and "Rink Closed" signs will be posted at entrances.

    Additionally, the skating pathway will be closed and barricaded for safety.

  • February 26, 2025 - ODR Nets

    With the recent warm weather, we're temporarily removing the nets from the rinks.
    The heat is causing them to melt into the ice, which can lead to damage and safety concerns.
    But don't worry—the rinks are still open for everyone to enjoy!
    We’ll bring the nets back once the temperatures cool down.

    Crokicurl rink is complete with rocks ready for play.

    • Standard hose flooding will continue to maintain the ice quality.

  • January 6, 2025 - UPP Update

    January 6, 2025 - Ukrainian Pioneer Park


    The freezing of the flooding water supply has caused damage. Replacement parts are on order and repairs will be completed when they arrive. Meanwhile, the outdoor rink will not be flooded, but it will be scraped regularly to maintain an optimal skating surface. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

    Skating Pathway is ready for skating with lights!

    All outdoor rinks are ready for skating with nets and lights!


    • Standard hose flooding will continue to maintain the ice quality.
    • Work will now begin to develop the Patrick Park Skating Pathway.


  • December 6, 2024 - Update

    December 6, 2024 - All Outdoor Rinks

    Outdoor rinks are ready for use when nets are placed and lights are turned on.


    • Hose flooding is complete at all rinks.
    • However, with the warm temperatures forecasted this weekend, the nets will not be out until next week when it cools down.
    • This helps protect the ice base from damage and ensures the rinks stay in great shape.
