Project Details:

  • Start Date: May 15, 2024
  • Expected date of completion: September 30, 2024
  • Working Hours: 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M.
  • Location: McBurney Drive from McNeil Crescent to Matheson Crescent.

Proposed Project Includes:

The City’s 2024 water main replacement program is scheduled to replace 370 meters of 150 mm (6 inch) Asbestos Cement (AC) or also referred to as transite pipe on McBurney Drive from McNeil Crescent to Matheson Crescent.

Since its original installation in 1976, this section of the water main has experienced 7 breaks, many of which were classified as service leaks and stress cracks indicating pipe integrity is compromised.

The objective of the City’s water main replacement programs is to improve the health of the distribution system, reduce operating costs and service level impacts, and protect the safety of the distribution system.

The Water Main Replacement program will happen in two phases. The first phase will be on McBurney Drive from McNeil Crescent to midway towards Matheson Crescent, then the second phase will be on McBurney Drive from the end of phase one to Matheson Crescent.

The estimated cost of the 2024 water main replacement program on McBurney is $2,715,000.00 including engineering, construction, material testing, contingency and taxes.
