If you’re curious about the latest tech rolling through our streets and sidewalks? We’re excited to share that our municipality has partnered with StreetScan, a Montreal-based company bringing cutting-edge technology to over 300 communities across the U.S. and Canada!

Roads: StreetScan's vehicles are equipped with advanced sensors that assess road conditions as they drive by, spotting issues like potholes, bumps, and cracks. This data helps us prioritize repairs, keeping our streets in the best shape we can for the budget we have.

Sidewalks: StreetScan's scooter-mounted sensors do the same for our sidewalks, identifying tripping hazards and cracks to ensure safe and smooth pathways for everyone.

    The StreetScan car, outfitted with a cutting-edge 360-degree camera and LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging or "pulsed laser") technology, has just wrapped up a significant project right here in Yorkton.

    ๐Ÿš— ๐๐ฎ๐ข๐œ๐ค ๐…๐š๐œ๐ญ๐ฌ:

    Duration: Four days to scan every street in Yorkton.

    Output: Comprehensive digital imagery of our entire roadway network was collected over the long weekend and completed yesterday.

    ๐Ÿ” ๐–๐ก๐š๐ญโ€™๐ฌ ๐๐ž๐ฑ๐ญ?

    The captured digital imagery is now entering the assessment phase. This imagery will be evaluated and categorized by sophisticated AI software.

    Each roadway segment will be assigned a Pavement Condition Index (PCI), a critical indicator to help us prioritize future road maintenance and improvement projects.
