City of Yorkton Summer Program

Dear S-CAPE Families,

As another incredible summer at S-CAPE comes to a close, I want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you, parents, guardians, and children for being part of the 2025 S-CAPE experience. Over the course of eight weeks, we had the privilege of welcoming 50 children each week into our program, and together we filled those days with so much fun!

Our days were anything but ordinary. From field trip adventures to visits from guest presenters, to afternoons packed with games, crafts, and team-building activities, each moment was designed to spark joy, build friendships, and create memories that last far beyond summer. Watching children try something new for the first time, step into leadership roles, or simply find the courage to be themselves has been a reminder of why this program is so meaningful.

Day camp is more than just a way to spend the summer, it is a place where children gain confidence, learn responsibility, and discover community. Whether it’s through solving challenges together, learning new skills, or forming friendships that may last a lifetime. For many children, S-CAPE has been a place of belonging, adventure, and growth.

To our families: thank you for trusting us with your children and for sharing them with us this summer. Your support makes it possible for us to continue building a program that not only entertains but truly impacts the lives of young people in Yorkton.

To our campers: thank you for bringing your smiles, your energy, and your imagination to camp each day. You are the heart of S-CAPE, and you make this program what it is.

As we look ahead to future summers, we remain committed to making S-CAPE a place where children can learn, grow, and shine. We are grateful to be part of your summer story and look forward to the many adventures yet to come.

What a wonderful first week of S-CAPE! This week was filled with so many games, crafts and summer fun! A highlight amongst this weeks group was the game "Olly-Olly Octopus". Name day had us all dressed up from common characters like Spider-Man, to running around like dogs or Zebras, or even as classic toys like rubix cubes! Thank you to all of our wonderful participants, we look forward to seeing you again!

Week Two was so much fun! We visited the Weinmaster splash park, went swimming, enjoyed a carnival day and learned to play Ringette with our guest Brianna from SaskRingette! We also played so many games and unleashed our inner artists while painting a clay dish! We hope the campers enjoyed the week as much as us! Thanks for an amazing week

We were also visited by a number of special guests including: Dance Innovations, Crossfit, and yoga! To end off our week, the campers participated in 'retro day', which involved a scavenger hunt and tie-dying!

Splash Camp at S-CAPE wrapped up Week 4 with a great stretch of swimming and summer fun! This week, campers participated in swimming lesson sessions, giving them time to build confidence and skills in the water while still enjoying afternoon free swim and water play. Outside of the pool, the week was filled with splash-themed crafts, and team games that kept everyone active and engaged. It has been rewarding to see the progress campers are making, from learning to float and glide to trying new strokes with encouragement from our instructors.

  • Week 5 - July 28 to August 1

Take a look at what we've been up to week 5 of S-CAPE!

We kicked things off with a science demonstration that sparked curiosity and wowed everyone with amazing experiments and cool facts. The sun was on our side, so we took full advantage and played at the park! A special highlight this week was a vibrant Ukrainian dancing instruction! To top off an already incredible week, we had bouncy castle time, which was a definite crowd favorite. Laughter filled the air as everyone bounced, jumped, and had an absolute blast.

We’re loving every moment of this summer and can’t wait for what’s next!

  • Week 6 - August 5 to 8

Take a look at what we've been up to week 6 of S-CAPE!

Week 6 of S-CAPE was packed with fun, movement, and trying new things! We kicked things off on the water with some canoeing and kayaking. Whether it was someone’s first time or they were already a pro with a paddle, everyone gave it a go and worked together to steer through the water. Later in the week, we had a special visit from our local track and field coach, who ran us through some fun drills and skills. To wrap things up, we had a trip to the bowling alley, where everyone was aiming for strikes and spares, cheering each other on, and just having a great time together. After that, we cooled off with some well-earned ice cream, swapping stories and sharing laughs over our favorite flavors.

  • Week 7 - August 11 to 15

Take a look at what we've been up to week 7 of S-CAPE!

This week at S-CAPE was full of colour, rhythm, and creativity!

We kicked things off with an energetic and joyful Bollywood dance workshop that had everyone moving, laughing, and trying out some brand-new dance steps. The room was filled with music, vibrant energy, and lots of smiles – thank you to our amazing instructors for bringing the beats and the fun!

Later in the week, Miss Kate led a beautiful flower crown-making session, inspired by her recent trip to Sweden. With fresh blooms and a sprinkle of Scandinavian charm, participants crafted stunning crowns and learned a bit about the traditions behind them. It was a peaceful, hands-on activity that let everyone's creativity shine.
