Heritage Heights Pickleball Court Expansion

In 2022, Yorkton City Council approved the resurfacing of the existing tennis courts at Heritage Heights Park and the expansion of the site to include additional dedicated pickleball courts.

The current asphalt court surface at Heritage Heights Park is over 20 years old and has significantly deteriorated. Cracking, surface unevenness, and general wear have made the courts less safe and increasingly unsuitable for regular play. Resurfacing is essential to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all users.

Pickleball has seen a major surge in popularity within the recreation sector. The current supply of outdoor pickleball courts, two at Knights of Columbus Park and two at Heritage Heights Park, are multi-purpose and shared with tennis. As community interest continues to grow, these facilities are no longer adequate to meet the needs of players and programming.

This expansion will improve the overall user experience, reduce scheduling conflicts, and support a wide range of recreational opportunities including:

  • Drop-in play

  • Club activities

  • Community programming

  • Local tournaments

The Heritage Heights Pickleball Court Expansion will:

  • Resurface the existing tennis courts: Restore the aging asphalt base to provide a safe, level, and durable playing surface.

  • Expand the court area: Add dedicated outdoor Pickleball courts to accommodate growing community demand.

  • Light Pole Removal

    As part of the ongoing improvements, existing light poles have been removed to allow for the safe removal of fencing currently in place. These steps are being taken in preparation for the arrival of heavy equipment, which will begin the next phase of work: asphalt removal and north side compaction and build-up.



  • Heritage Heights Pickleball Court Expansion Projects Awarded

    June 2, 2025 - Project Awarded

    Asphalt:

    The Heritage Heights Pickleball Court Expansion Project has been awarded to Fedorowich Construction Ltd. with a cost of $162,421.00 plus all applicable taxes. The scope of this project includes:

    • Demolition and removal of existing asphalt surface
    • Expansion and compaction on North side of current surface
    • Application of new asphalt and existing and expanded surface





























    Fencing:

    The Heritage Heights Pickleball Court Expansion Project fencing component has been awarded to Credence Construction with a cost of $61,480.00. The scope of work includes:

    • Supply materials & labour to install 256 feet of 12 foot chain link fence.
    • All Posts to be 8 foot spacing.
    • Installation of two 4 foot gates.
    • Installation of 64 feet of 3 foot chain link to separate courts.
    • Installation of 12 foot green privacy slats on three sides.
    • Removal of existing chain link for court re-surfacing.
    • Re-installation of chain link after court re-surfacing is complete.
